ESTIMATOR (1–2)

Building Envelope / Façade Systems

Location: Elkhorn, WI (Office-Based)

Base Salary: $75,000–$95,000 annually, depending on experience

Status: Evergreen — opens as work demands it

THE ROLE

Estimators at Construction Ahead USA are responsible for pricing commercial building envelope and façade work that must be installed clean in the field.

This is not conceptual estimating and not sales theater.

If you price it, it needs to be executable, defensible, and aligned with how the work is actually built.

This evergreen posting is intended for Estimator 1 and Estimator 2 candidates who want to grow inside a disciplined, execution-focused estimating environment.

Create takeoffs and estimates using Bluebeam, On-Screen Takeoff, and other digital tools.

Identify risks, value engineering options, and bid strategies.

Support the handoff process to Project Coordination and Field Operations.

3+ years of estimating experience in cladding, exterior envelope, or similar scopes.

WHERE THIS ROLE FITS GEOGRAPHICALLY

Construction Ahead USA is Midwest-based, and this position is office-based in Elkhorn, Wisconsin.

Our estimating team supports:

  • A growing Midwest project base, and

  • Select national projects tied to repeat, qualified general contractors

We do not chase bids across the country.

Estimators support national work only when it aligns with long-term relationships, defined scopes, and execution standards.

This structure provides:

  • Day-to-day stability in the office

  • Exposure to high-quality national projects

  • Clear boundaries around what work we pursue

WHAT YOU’LL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR

  • Reviewing architectural and engineering drawings for building envelope and façade scopes

  • Performing accurate quantity takeoffs from elevations, wall sections, and details

  • Developing complete labor, material, equipment, access, and logistics pricing

  • Pricing façade systems, including fiber cement, metal panels, rainscreens, insulation, furring, and attachment systems

  • Identifying scope gaps, constructability risks, alternates, and value-engineering options

  • Coordinating and leveling pricing with material suppliers and trade partners

  • Preparing clear, well-documented proposals with defined assumptions and exclusions

  • Supporting a clean, organized handoff to Project Management after the award

HOW ESTIMATING WORKS HERE

Estimating operates inside a defined lane.

Accuracy, documentation, and follow-through matter.

Estimates are expected to reflect the real scope, sequencing, and field conditions.

You’ll be expected to:

  • Price work the way it will actually be built

  • Keep estimates organized, traceable, and complete

  • Surface risk early rather than bury it

  • Support predictable execution after the award

Responsibility and scope increase as consistency and judgment are demonstrated.

WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR

  • Estimator 1: Entry-level to early experience with drawings, takeoffs, or field exposure

  • Estimator 2: Proven estimating experience with exterior, façade, or envelope scopes

  • Ability to read drawings without guessing

  • Strong organizational habits and attention to detail

  • Comfortable being accountable for your numbers

WHAT THIS ROLE IS NOT

  • Not a commission-driven sales position

  • Not a guess-and-pad estimating environment

  • Not disconnected from field execution

  • Not remote or hybrid

WHY THIS ROLE MATTERS

Estimators set the foundation for everything that follows.

Clean estimates lead to clean projects, protected margins, and trust between teams.

This role directly impacts project success and the company's long-term health.
