Hotel exterior renovation in Anaheim, CA, at the Fairfield Anaheim Resort, with perforated metal screen wall and aluminum batten installation by Construction Ahead USA.

KR Commercial Interiors Inc. has brought our team on to install the perforated metal screen wall and the Longboard battens on the Fairfield Anaheim Resort renovation. This is our third Marriott-brand hotel for them.

The property sits on Harbor Boulevard in the middle of Anaheim's resort district, where the next hotel is always next door, and the first impression starts at the curb.

KR has run hotel work out of Anaheim for more than three decades, from property surveys and brand improvement programs to full renovations across California and Florida.

The renovation puts aluminum to work two ways on one building, and our scope is the metal.

Longboard 2 by 6 battens run vertically, adding depth and shadow lines to the elevation. Construction Specialties fabricates the perforated screenwall panel system, one vertical band of custom panels.

The wave on those panels is not paint, and it is not print.

The perforations themselves carry it, changing size across each sheet. Stand close, and you see holes. Step back to the street, and the holes assemble into a continuous wave down the whole band. The panels ship loose to the jobsite, so the graphic arrives in pieces. A graphic that crosses every joint has nowhere to hide a panel that sits out of line.

On the screen wall, that means putting the wave together panel by panel, in line and in order.

A resort makes its first impression from the street. Long after this renovation is old news, the screen and the battens will still be doing their job on the front of the building. That is the job KR brought us on to do.
