Mixed-Use Construction

Brimley, MI – kings club

Mixed-use construction in Brimley, MI for the Kings Club redevelopment, featuring thermally modified wood, siding and metal panel systems installed by Construction Ahead, USA.

Kings Club opened here on July 4, 1984.

For more than 35 years, it was a Bay Mills Indian Community landmark that put people to work and brought visitors to Lakeshore Drive.

It closed in 2020.
Now the community is building a new Kings Club on the same ground.

New beginnings are where construction works best.

Out front, local business owners get storefronts of their own. Out back, the community gets a place to gather along the water.

From Lakeshore Drive, you will see a wave of wood battens rise and fall across the front, with Lake Superior right behind it.

Immel Construction awarded our team the wave, along with LP SmartSide siding from LP Building Solutions and PAC-CLAD metal panels from PAC-CLAD | Petersen.

The battens face four hard seasons off the lake: snow and ice in winter, rain and humidity in summer, and freeze and thaw in between.

Every one of those comes down to water.

Arbor Wood Co. thermally modifies domestic timber with nothing but heat and steam, converting the natural sugars that mold and rot feed on.

The result is less water absorption, less expansion and contraction, and wood that resists decay.

A wave only works when every batten lands where the drawings put it. That is the part we own.
