A new layer of warmth in the right places takes a dated, long-forgotten building and dresses it up with a new facade, ready for new signage, fresh ideas, and new clientele.
This was not a large scope. It was a smart one. A quick exterior refresh using Nichiha VintageWood Bark to bring contrast, durability, and visual clarity back to the entry without overcomplicating the building or the budget. Materials that make sense. Details that hold up. A look that works in the desert long after the photos are taken.
Strong coordination with White Sands Construction kept the work moving efficiently and cleanly. Familiar systems, clear communication, and a steady pace made this a straightforward execution from start to finish.
No reinvention.
No excess.
Just a crisp reset that gets the building back in business.

The former K-Mart on Bataan Memorial is officially awarded, and our team is already moving. When a building carries this much history, the exterior has to reset expectations for the new use and send a clear message that what comes next is worth walking into. That responsibility starts with how we plan, communicate, and execute.
Our scope will anchor the entry with Nichiha VintageWood Bark from the Wood Series. Warm wood visual with none of the maintenance burden. Strong color stability under the New Mexico sun and weather. A system that holds up to public traffic and pairs cleanly with glass and masonry. It is the right fit for a property that will see thousands of families each week.

Bowling, indoor pickleball, VR, food service, and community space will put real economic weight back into this corridor.
Upward Architects, based in Tempe, sets the table with clear, workable documents. They design with construction realities in mind, which keeps the whole team aligned.
