CERACLAD Caulk-Free Rainscreen
A caulk-free rainscreen is not impossible.
It just asks you to be more deliberate.
On a caulk-free fiber cement panel, there is no final bead of sealant to finish a line.⠀
The joint is the finish.
The spec here calls for the caulk-free T-joint. Aluminum joiners run the verticals, and shiplap with a factory gasket runs the horizontals.
That changes how the work runs. Layout comes first, and cuts have to be square.
Every panel edge at a joiner gets a waterproof sealer, and each panel has to land tight.
Hidden clips hold the panels, so no fastener shows on the face.⠀
None of it is complicated. All of it is deliberate.
There is nothing to hide a short cut.⠀

In the mountains, everything is harder. Mammoth Lakes sits at 7,880 feet above sea level. The air is thin, the sun is harder on a finish, the winters are long, and the season for exterior work ends when the snow arrives. The site is a tight corner with little room to stage, and it is full: multiple trades and inspections, all at the same time. The crane sets the pallets. From there, every panel goes up the scaffold by hand, and a mistake gets carried twice.
None of that is a reason to stay off the mountain. It is the reason the work up here means something.
A hard project needs two things proven before it starts:
the system and the people installing it.
This one has both.
Rockspring Mammoth is a five-story luxury resort community at Main Street and Minaret Road: 118 residences, a restaurant, and a Nordic-style spa. Our team is installing approximately 100,000 square feet of CERACLAD® triple-coated fiber cement rainscreen. The system has 35 years of continuous use, and we are right behind it with nearly three decades of service under our name. No sealant in the panel joints, nothing to recaulk, and a warranty that runs 30 years on the panel and 20 on the finish, written on one condition: the system goes in per the manufacturer's manual. That part is ours.
Our discipline travels to California.
Nobody on this team is a stranger to hard ground. Our in-house labor runs the work. Frost can show up in any month up here, so we clear the planks before anyone climbs, and every safety inspection on this site has passed the first time.
