School construction in Thorsby, AL for Thorsby High School, with exterior envelope installation by Construction Ahead USA built for performance, durability, and long-term campus use.
The addition brings a new wing. On the band room, the existing metal siding and the blanket insulation behind it come off, the steel frame stays, and a new wall goes up in their place. That room is where the town's musicians get their start.
Construction Ahead USA has been awarded the cladding and insulation at Thorsby High School by Blalock Building Company, Inc. Our second school with them.
Thorsby High School is not only a high school. The campus runs PreK through 12, so the same building takes a child at four years old and graduates that same student at eighteen. It started as Thorsby Institute and has been the public school under the Chilton County Board of Education since 1957, and it sits on Opportunity Drive in the peach country between Birmingham and Montgomery.
Birchfield Penuel Architects out of Birmingham designed the addition and specified a rainscreen assembly over one inch of continuous rigid insulation, run in multiple panel sizes and colors all within the same system.
Blalock Building Company has run design-build work out of Trussville, Alabama, since 2006 and now works across ten states, with schools filling much of the portfolio.
We carry the whole wall. DuPont XPS continuous insulation goes on first, then the Nichiha USA panel, and lastly, the Adfast USA sealant at the joints, color matched to the panel.
One subcontractor from the sheathing out, so there are no gaps between trades for the contractor to chase.
